Know Before You Go: The island is 37 square miles and divided between France and The Netherlands (you don't need to show your passport to go from one side of the island to the other) The Dutch side features chain hotels, casinos, the cruise port, and the international airport. The French side features smaller boutique hotels, fine dining, and upscale shopping. If visiting the island on a cruise ship, there is a charge to take the ferry into Philipsburg.
What to Love: two island atmospheres in one, a main perimeter road makes island driving easy, visiting Maho Beach to watch the planes land, over 350 restaurants on the island
